To all the people I ever questioned for thinking that files should always end with a newline: I’m sorry

@djmoch Emacs always insert a newline at the end of a file if there isn't already one there (probably an option to disable it though). I later realized if I ever cat a file, that newline makes sure the bash prompt starts after the file instead of sticking it on the end of the file.

@ubuntuxp Yeah, a lot of editors with a long history seem to handle this more or less automatically
